Sarah Pauline Stone Gilliland, 89, a lifelong resident of Polk County, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at an Etowah Healthcare facility. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovie Stone and Sarah Elizabeth Burris Stone; and son, Spencer Gilliland; brothers: Clifford Stone, A. B. Stone, Spencer Stone and Loyd Stone; sisters: Ruby Stewart, Maggie Nipper and Nadine Donney Trew. She is survived by her husband, John "Cleft" Gilliland of Polk County; brother, Ben Stone and wife, Imogene; sister, Elaine Rogers; sister-in-law, Margie Gilliland and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 09, 2010 at Benton Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Joe Hatcher officiating.
