Stella Parks, 89, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 in a local healthcare facility. She was a member of Victor Baptist Church.

Mrs. Parks was the daughter of the late George W. Bishop and Sally Whitmire Bishop and was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Parks; son, David Parks and wife, Judy Parks; granddaughter, Dixie Bryson Freeman.

She is survived by her daughters and spouses: Mary and Charles Brown of Cleveland and Betty and Paul Godfrey of Benton; seven grandchildren: Mitchell and La Fonda Godfrey of Cleveland, Sherry and Brent Miller of Athens, Marion and David Hardwick, Tim and Karen Goins; five great-grandchildren.

A private funeral service was held on Wednesday morning, December 24, 2008 at Higgins Funeral Home.
