Thresa Sue Martin, 73, of Reliance, departed this life peacefully on January 10, 2026, at her residence.
She was born on March 9, 1952, in Archville, to the late Rev. Frank and Louise Green Jones. A lover of life, she was a simple lady, that adored her family. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She managed Hiwassee Outfitters and enjoyed the numerous people she met on the Hiwassee River. An avid reader and a tremendous grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. One of her fondest memories included supporting TRUMP.
In addition to her parents, Rev. Frank and Louise Green Jones, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie A. Martin; one son, Charles L. Martin; one daughter, Tammy Sue Martin.
Left to cherish the many memories include her son, John Martin; grandchildren, Michael Martin, Bryce Martin, Brandon Martin, Stephanie (Adam) Brock, and Jayme Carter; great-grandchildren, Haley Shaffer, Robby Shaffer, Bentley Shaffer, Shaylene Trewitt, and Braelynn Ogles; siblings, Faye (Randall) Bates, Pamela (Steve) Mathis, and Kim (Tony) Cates. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Green officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Fairview Cemetery, with her family serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
