Thomas "LeeRoy" Farmer, of Sweetwater, departed this life peacefully onDecember 13, 2022, surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born onMarch 2, 1953, inEtowah, Tennessee to the late Tommy and Bonnie Taylor Farmer. Throughout life, LeeRoy was blessed with many musical talents that included being able to play the piano, bass, and guitar. Playing with multiple gospel groups and quartets, a few of them included: Happy Three, Martin Sisters, The Galatians, Fairview Quartet, The Gibbs Family, The Farmer Family, and The Foothills Quartet. He loved the Lord and took every opportunity to worship Him with his church family at Galilee Baptist Church and Greasy Creek Baptist Church.
A few of his fondest memories were spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren, cooking, fishing, whittling, watching wrestling, and collecting guns and knives. Aside from his family and hobbies, he had a great love for his two dogs, Brandy and Booger.
He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to have known him.
In addition to his parents, Tommy, and Bonnie Farmer, he was preceded by his siblings, Frank Farmer, Gus Farmer, Sandy Akins, Elvis Farmer, and Danny Farmer.
Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 46 years, Judy Carter Farmer, beloved children, John (Pam) Farmer, Malinda "Sissy" Efaw (Tim Thomason); grandchildren, Jacob Efaw, Ethan Efaw, and Joseph Farmer; great-grandchildren, Beau Torbett, Callum Torbett, Tucker Thomason, and Cade Lee; siblings, Kenneth (Cheryl) Farmer, and Donna (Gary) Woodby; and brother-in-law, CB Akins. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at7:00 p.m. onFriday, December 16, 2022, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Donald Weaver and Pastor Ray Cheatham officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Archville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather from5:00to7:00p.m. onFriday, December 16, 2022, at the funeral home.
