Tommy Lane, 74, of Varnell, GA., departed this life on January 15, 2025, at Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Athens, TN, to the late Tommy and Jean Lane.
A graduate of Mason High School in Mason, Ohio, Tommy signed an athletic scholarship at Cleveland State Community College to play baseball. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and retired from Mohawk Industries after a long and dedicated career. Tommy loved attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, and later in life he was an avid golfer or could be found traveling the country with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Tommy and Jean Lane, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Edie Lane.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved wife, Elizabeth Lawson Lane; son, Matt (Tina) Lane; granddaughter, Emily Lane; grandson, Eli Lane; two brothers, Jim (Wanda) Lane, and Glenn (Terri) Lane; one sister, Debbie (Lenny) Wall; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Benton Station Cemetery. Eli Lane, Austin Fischer, Robbie Morrison, Kelly Scruggs, and Larry guy will serve as pallbearers.
There will be no public visitation.
