Valerie J. Lankford, 46, of Etowah, departed this life on March 23, 2023, at a local hospital.

She was born on September 20, 1976, in Cleveland, to Patty Ann Abel King and the late William "WD" King.

In addition to her father, WD King, she was preceded by her sister, Brenda King; two brothers, Wheeler King, and William "Billy" King.

Survivors include her husband, Chad Lankford; mother, Patty Ann King; three children, Dakota Kyker, Zach Lankford, and Emma Lankford; siblings, Linda (Kenneth) Mitchell, Raymonda King, Rocky (Angie) King, David "Rusty" King, Winston (Tresa) King, Wendel (Tammy) King, Chris (Laken) King, Jimmy (Sue) King, and Dewitt (Cindy) King; mother-in-law, Debbie Lankford; father-in law, Ernie Lankford and brother-in-law, Matt Lankford. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Headen officiating. Interment will follow at Goodsprings Baptist Church Cemetery with Rocky King, Wendel King, Chris King, Haven King, Cameron King, and Anthony Caputo serving as pallbearers.
