Veta Beulah Dixon, 84, a resident of Ducktown, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at the family residence. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Mine City Baptist Church in Ducktown. Mrs. Dixon was the daughter of the late John Rogers and Oma Rymer Rogers and was also preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Dixon; sisters: Essie Bridges, Dovie Howard and Eva Cole; brothers: Cass Rogers, Roscoe Rogers, Walter Rogers, Cecil Rogers. She is survived by her daughters and spouses: Shelia and Rex Phelps of Athens and Brenda and David Green of Benton; grandchildren: Jason and Cassie Bell of Cleveland, Jennifer Bell of Delano, Ryan Phelps and Haley Phelps both of Athens; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Smith officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Lebanon Church Cemetery in Cleveland with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
