Wayne L. Woody, 82, of Benton, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at his son's residence. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Bowater. Wayne attended Mountain View Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion Woody and Elizabeth Green Woody; brothers, J. L. Woody and Floyd Wilson Woody; and sister, Chassie Woody. Wayne is survived by his sons, Dane Woody and Mark Woody and wife, Sheila; grandson, Brian Woody and wife, Ashlea; great granddaughter, Riley Woody; brothers, Dewey Woody and Marion Woody; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Benton Station Cemetery with Mack Ross, Herman Woody, Eric Woody, Kevin Woody, Gary Woody and Jimmy Townsend serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
