Obituary

William (Fred) Wilson, 79, of Old Fort, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 22, 2013 in Etowah Healthcare Center. He was employed by Hardwick Stove and Maytag for 37 years. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Irene Wilson; brothers, Joe, Eugene, Clarence and Leslie Wilson and sister, Ruth Mantooth. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Ross Wilson; daughter, Heather Wilson- Cruz and husband, Alfonso; grandson, Nicholas Cruz; sisters, Naomi Mantooth, Martha Brown and Mary Evans. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Smyrna Baptist Church with the Reverend Jim Parm, the Reverend Joe Hatcher and the Reverend Marvin Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Dill Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Mr. Wilson's nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Smyrna Baptist Church.
