IN LOVING MEMORY OF
W.K. "Toddy"
White
August 17, 1934 – May 29, 2025
In the morning of Thursday, May 29, 2025, Warren "Toddy" White, 90+, left us to be with Shirley and the Lord.
He was born on August 17, 1934, to the late Dudley and Lucille White.
Toddy was a gifted athlete, having played all three sports at Polk County High School, where he graduated in 1953. He then went on to play football and basketball for two years at Tennessee Wesleyan College. Toddy was set to proceed with his athletic gift at East Tennessee State University when a family emergency required his care.
Toddy spent many years coaching little league football in Benton, TN, alongside Chris Harbison and John Triplett. Forever a VFL, he and Shirley became season ticket holders at Neyland Stadium in 1978. They spent three decades following the Vols and the Lady Vols all over the USA with their beloved friends, JC and Carolyn Stephens, RT Crabtree and Velma Henley, Fred and Lisa Price, and Bill and Louetta Moats.
He along with Shirley, faithfully attended Benton United Methodist Church for 35+ years.
In addition to his parents, Dudley and Lucille White, he was preceded in death by his beloved and faithful wife of 61 years, Shirley Ann Harrison White; siblings, Sybil Morgan, Zida May Lee, Erma Jean Dixon, Dudley White, Jr. and Annette Gatlin; son-in-law, Charlie Qualls.
Left to cherish the many memories of his feisty soul are his daughters, Lisa (John) Beard and Jennifer Qualls; grandchildren, Tracy Beard, Tucker (Kristin) Beard, Ryan (Nikki) Qualls, Stephanie (Alex) Akins; great-granddaughters, Ivy Qualls, Emma Qualls and coming in August 2025, Andie Akins. Several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends and his Cherokee Circle family also survive.
With great honor, Toddy was accepted into the Harrison family in 1961. He continued to have a close relationship with Bill (Devona) Harrison and Henry (Brenda) Harrison.
He was asked to serve his country in 1957, after WWII in Germany. Upon his return, he began working at Bowater Newsprint until 1997. Toddy spent the final 28 years enjoying life.
A memorial service with military honors to celebrate and honor Toddy's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. A white dove release will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon), prior to the service at the funeral home.
A special thanks goes out to Simon Adams, Jessica and Ryker Blankenship, and Deborah Dean for their love and support to Toddy.
In lieu of flowers and in Toddy's own words, "Take your family out, be safe and have fun!"
Higgins Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of arrangements.
